Discovery Trails

Accipiter is intimately involved with Discovery Trails in promoting conservation in the Makuleke Area.

The Makuleke Area rests between the Limpopo and Luvuvhu Rivers, stretching from the Kruger National Park Pafuri Gate to to Crooks Corner, an area of 24,000 hectares. This region in the far northern Kruger National Park is recognised as the biodiversity jewel of the Kruger, a diversity that starts with the geology and climate and extends through its botany to the animal life that occurs.  It is an area of spectacular beauty and one of the true wilderness areas in South Africa.

It is recognised as one of the botanical reserves of the Kruger National Park. It is a premier birding location with over 350 species, including many specials. Although the Big 5 occur, they only add an excitement, if encountered, to these trails which focus on all aspects of nature, big or small.

Johna promotes and guides trails offered by Discovery Trails.

EcoQuest Trails

The EcoQuest experience is built around a 6 night course based at EcoTraining’s rustic and unfenced camp in the Makuleke Area.

Guests are given presentations on topics such as geology, habitats, ecology and wildlife.  In group sizes of 8, guests are exposed to the practical realities of these topics with morning and afternoon walking trails.  Walking in this wilderness is truly exhilarating!

For more information about the trail, please visit Discovery Trails or contact us.
